Mr & Mrs. Mack.

Good afternoon, everyone!

I can not tell you how happy I am today! This weather we are having here in Columbus could only be described with one word, gorgeous.

As I sit on my porch and type this my thermometer reads 70 and the sun is shining oh so brightly!
hollddd up, who the hell is this positive Kelsey, and what the hell happened to the old one?!

Anyway, while I'm discussing beautiful and gorgeous things let's recap the wedding I was in a few weeks ago. As I mentioned a few weeks ago my dear friend Natasha got married and I was lucky enough to be one of her bridesmaids.

This wedding took my bridesmaid v card and I really didn't know what I was expecting. Would I be the drunk bridesmaid? Would I cry like a baby when she walked down the aisle, because I cry at everything. Would I be the bridesmaid that kept her cool, calm, and collected?
What would it be like?

Well, it was truly one of the most rewarding things I've done. I, of course showed up with a flask and a bottle of vodka and sipped on screwdrivers all mornings. I, did in fact ball like a baby when I saw Natasha walk down the aisle towards Jordan. I didn't need to be the one to keep her calm because that girl was as cool as a cucumber all day long.
No freak outs, no yelling, no screaming.
It made my heart extremely happy to see one of my good friends get to marry the man of her dreams. I got to see her promise to spend the rest of her life with the man who treats her exactly like she deserves to be treated, a princess.

Here are some pictures from the glorious day <3

yeah, see me wiping my eye...that's me ballin like a baby.

I'm so happy for you Natasha & Jordan! Love you guys so much and wish you a lifetime of love, happiness, and nothing but the best!

ps. I think I'm going to copy my homegirl Alicia {what's new} and do the Q&A thing..soo start thinkin' of some good ones. You can ask me anything from my break up, fashion, friends, booze, blah blah blah.

Isn't girl talk a cover band?

...if someone ever hears me utter those words again, please quickly smack me in the teeth.

My homegirl, Alicia {who always has my back} kept talking about this damn thing called "girl talk."
"Kelsey, GO TO GIRL TALK WITH ME!"
"Kelsey, seriously, buy a girl talk ticket!"
I was convinced this band was just another cover band and just stood up on stage and sang some tunes and blah blah blah..
Well, I was wrong and once again, she was right.

best night I've ever had.

Now, if you have never heard of girl talk I suggest you quickly hop on youtube and research him quickly.
He is this skinny white boy who does nothing but mashes up songs and comes up with great things like this..
please excuse our singing.

told you, greatness.

Once again, I thank the heavens I have her as my friend to show me all of these great things.

Now, go on, download some girl talk.

Damn, my brother's getting old.

First things first, HAPPY29th BIRTHDAY TO MY WONDERFUL OLDER BROTHER BRYAN PHILLIP!!!!!
Second, HAPPY FRIDAY!

I know I have mentioned my brother a couple of times on zee blog but I have never really gone into detail about my brother. Mostly, because he would kill me if he knew I blogged about him.
However, today I am dedicating an entire post to him and he won't even know it because I don't think my brother even knows that I have a blog.

Where do I even begin about my dear, sweet, precious brother?
My brother is almost five years older {I like to emphasize the world older as much as I can} and so we never got to be in the same school as one another or have the same friends  and all that jazz.
Just as I was entering middle school, he was leaving. Just as I was entering high school, he was graduating. Which, in a way really sucked for me, because that little effer left a mess for me to clean up and I had to suck up to some teachers so they would see that I was obviously such a sweet angel compared to him :).

I kid, I kid.
kinda.

Ok, fine I'll be serious now.

I introduce to you, zee brother.
throwback picture: halloween circa 199something.

There has not been a time in my life where I haven't looked up to my brother. Don't get me wrong, my brother has done a lot of extremely dumb, and i mean dumb things. I can't tell you how many beer pong and flip cups games I have cleaned up after, or how many bags of beer cans I threw away, or how many rugs I washed after parties he threw {all at the young age of 13} just so he wouldn't get yelled at when mom and dad came home from the lakehouse.
I can't tell you how many "shut up's" and "i'm telling mom's" have been yelled. I can't tell you how many arm punches have been thrown, or how many leg slaps have been slapped. I can't tell you how many "I'm never speaking to you again"have been said. I can't tell you how many tears were cried when I was younger because he looked at me the wrong way {I've always had a flare for the dramatics}. I can't tell you how damaged my ears are from all the Dwight Yocum I had to listen to him sing when I was younger. I can't tell you how damaged my liver is from all the boones farm he bought me when I was just a high schooler.
{You would think he would have been a better bigger brother and told me to stop drinkin' something so   cheap.}
I can't tell you how many hours I wasted on having dumb fights and screaming matches instead of conversations and quality time with him.

But, what I can tell is the following..

There has not been a day where I have not been proud of the man he has become, or the teacher he has become. There has not been a day where I have not been proud to be his little sister. There has not been a day where I remind myself that I'm a lot like him and that's why we tend to agree to disagree. There has not been a day where I know he would do whatever I asked. There has not been a day where has not supported me. There has not been a day where he laughed at me and told me I was being stupid when I needed to be told. There has not been a day where we can laugh and joke about something so small.
But, most importantly, there has not been a day where he has not been my biggest fan without having to say he is my biggest fan.

My brother isn't the vocal type, he has never been and will never be. I use to get so angry at him for never telling me he was proud of me or accepted me. But, I realized, that's just who Bryan is. I know Bryan doesn't always {and by always I mean 9 times out of 10} understand why I do things the way I do them, but, I know he supports me and loves me know matter what, and that is why he is the greatest brother a girl could have.
I know a lot of times he actually would like to grab me by the shoulders and shake me and say "KELSEY STOP DOING THIS AND GROW UP!"
But, he doesn't. He let's me grow up and learn from my mistakes and just shakes his head, and even when he ends up being right he never says I told you so.
I know at the end of day he will be me in my corner without any hesisitation because that's just what big brothers do, and I'm oh so lucky to have him in my corner.

Happy Birthday Bryan, I love you beyond words.
I hope your day is filled with joy and happiness.

p.s I'm sorry I dropped the ball on getting your gift the day of and you had zero golf balls for golf league yesterday...I'm a shitty little sister.

catch up.

afternoon loves.

I feel like since the last time I blogged a lot has changed, and by a lot I mean maybe three things.
But, three things in my life these days means a lot.

let's be real: april & may sucked ass and I wasn't sad at all to see them go. In fact, if I hope to never experience what I experienced in those two months again in my lifetime.

However, because I am obviously I am a sweet individual my luck has started to change and the tides are turning in my favor.

So, let me share the joy.

1. i'm movin' out bitches.
that's right, i'm finally leaving mom & dad's.
How pathetic does that make me sound?
But, I don't regret moving back home and honestly, I don't think I would have survived my last quarter at school, family issues, and getting my heart smashed into 1000 pieces without my parents. I will forever be greatful for their support and letting me live in their basement and participating in movie nights with me even when they didn't want to.
With that being said, I introduce you to my gorgeous roommates.
i'm sure you recognize that lil hoodrat Alicia.
...and our second lil hoodrat, Katie.

I'm so excited to be living with these two! It will be a fantastic summer of: vodka pong {not to be confused with beer pong}, sun bathing, singing & dancing in the living room, and whatever other shenans we encounter.
Liver, I'm sorry.

2. I GOT A NEW JOB.
I probably should have started out with this one first because it is VERY EXCITING NEWS!!! I was sought out by Saks Fifth Ave through LinkedIn and out of twenty some people they hired little ole' me.
Karma, I'm starting to believe in you again.
Words can not describe to you how much this means to me. The job is the lead stylist position for women's contemporary which what I pretty much did at BCBG, but is full time with big girl status and everything. I still want to work my way up to corporate. But, us fashion gals know, you have to bust ass to get to the top and that is what I plan on doing.
I start June 18th and am so ready, nervous, excited, and thrilled to start my new career path with Saks Fifth. I mean hello, it's frickin' SAKS FIFTH!

3. I'm happy.
I stopped and thought about that the other day, like actually really thought about it. When was the last time I could sit back and say I am 100% happy with every aspect in my life. Family, friends, boys, myself, job..etc. I couldn't remember the last time. Well, right now I can say I am 100% happy with life.
Yes, there are a lot of things in my life going on I do not care for or wish for but that is life and I can't do anything about that. But, for the first time in a long time I took control of things I can make happy and put myself first and getting myself happy. Not to toot my own horn, but I'm going too. I've lost roughly 18 pounds since the beginning of April, I now enjoy running when I use to HATE it. I've become friends with some of the most amazing girls who have been nothing but supported and loving when I needed them. I have a fantastic, and I mean FANTASTIC family.
To top all that of I have been single for the first time for longer then a month since I was sixteen. I hate to be alone, 100% hate it. I'm scared of it, and never look forward to it.
But, right now it's what I need to do, it's what I want to do and I'm ok with that.
I'm happy with that.
For awhile I was sad and heartbroken and hated men and said they were filth and scum and I cursed the guy who I wasted four years of my life on.
But, then I started to think about it.
Yes, I got my heart broken.
Yes, I didn't get the happy ever after he swore to me.
Yes, I probably won't be able to trust the words "I love you" for a very long time {Which really, really sucks.}
Yes, I could have done more.
But, I got to love for four years.
Some of it wasn't easy and some of it really sucked. Some of it was terrible and dark. But, some of it was amazing and the most passion and love I have ever felt in my life, like the kind of love you see in the movies. I got four years of that love, and some people go their whole lives without experiencing that kind of love.
So, I got to be sad, dark, and twisy for a few months but now...
I get to be happy all just for me.
I am a smart, outgoing, funny, loving, carefree, and big hearted individual.
I'm happy with all of that and my life.
For the first time in my life I'm simply just happy and it feels so damn good.

This is a super long post compared to most and my hands are getting pissy with me that they have had to type this much.
Over and out, beeches.

Bride hijacking & Penis Cookies.

Interesting title, eh?

I warn you now: if you follow me on instagram or twitter, you will be bored with this post.

There might be a thing or two some of you don't know about me and that is this: i'm hardly ever serious & like to have a good time.

My dear, sweet, loving friend Natasha is getting married in roughly 9 days and she one day decided to get extremely wasted and ask me to be one of her bridesmaids.
Ok, well she wasn't actually drunk. But, homegirl over here can not keep a straight face for longer than 2 minutes so why she thinks I will be able to walk down that aisle and not laugh or be able to look straight ahead is beyond me.
Anyway, neither here nor there.
The wedding was rapidly approaching and I had realized one small minor detail. No one had contacted me about a batchelorette party!!
The hardly ever being serious trait kicks in and I thought to myself: "Well this is bullshit, I won't get to parade around drinking out of a penis straw and yell inapproriate things at hot men!"
So, I did what you would do.
Took matters into my own hands.

A couple of girls Natasha & I work with decided we should throw her a surprise dinner.
I mean it is perfect! Not only would there be penis straws, penis confetti, streamers, balloons, and any other inapproriate item you could think of..it would all be a surprise.

So, I made up a bullet proof lie and convinced Natasha it was just her and I having a lovely dinner talking flowers, cake, and blah blah blah..

Then, this happened.

i made her wear a blindfold.

then, made her wear this ridic gear and drink out of a penis straw.

so prec.

Me & the bride to be!

mmm..margs!

..and i of course took a picture with the penis cookie.

But, seriously. It was so much fun! Natasha had no idea which made it much more special and rewarding to see the look on her face when I took the scarf off and she saw all the girls from work sitting at the table.
Needles to say, I can not wait for her wedding.

To my dear sweet Natasha- I love you beyond words. I'm glad work brought us together and THANK YOU for everything you have done for me these past few weeks. Between planning a wedding, moving, and listening to my bitch ass I'm not really sure how you did it :)
You will be a beautiful bride, and I wish you and Jordan a lifetime of love and happiness.

back to the basics.

wowzas.

It has been a hot second since this girl has stepped foot in the blogging world, and I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the break.
However, I missed those few connections/relationships I have made through blogging and missed seeing what was going on in their lives!

But...
I'm back, for good.
By that I mean to my usual 3 {if you are lucky} 4 posts a week.

I know I got all sad, dark, and sappy for a second and complained about how terrible my life and how I hated boys and blah...blah..blah..

But, I got a friendly reminder from my father:
that is life & shit happens.

My dad and I are the exact same person almost, it is actually kind of scary. I look like him, I can drink like him, I cuss like a sailor like him, my sense of humor is the same as his, my independence is the same as him. So, to say we have "life chats" is a stretch because we tend to disagree a lot because we are the same person.
However, those rare {and i mean rare} moments when I let my guard down we do have them and when I was whining on about a pathetic boy who broke my heart, how I didn't have a full time job, and how I felt very confused about some family issues, he simply said it best.
"Kels, get back to the basics and fix what you dont like."
At first when I heard "back to the basics" I instantly thought of hits off of Christina Aguilera's album and quickly realized that is not what he was referring too.

It all made sense.
Go back to the things that made me feel free, the things that made me, me.
He said, "I haven't heard the last time you mentioned your blog, or the last time I saw you go for a long run, or hell, the last time you went to the mall {Told ya, I had issues.}

I have a great life. I'm healthy, I have a family who loves and supports me, wonderful friends who keep my heart happy, and a job that I adore.
Fixing me and doing what I know to make me happy is the only thing I can control in life, it's the only thing all of us can control.

So, this is me getting back to the basics and doing what I love because I love it.
Not doing something because it's what he loved, or what they loved, or what anyone loves.

I've missed blogging 3-4 times a week, even though I usually blog about nothing, I've missed going on those runs and crankin' up the tunes and clearing my mind, and trust me I've missed the mall.
Now is the fun part in figuring out what I want in this next "step" of life, who I am as an independent person, and what I want to fix about me.
You know, back to the basics.
There are a lot of things I can't control in life right now that I pray to God that I could, but this is one thing I can, so I'm runnin' full speed with it.

I encourage all of you to step back and think about the same thing.
Do you need to get back to the basics?

I've missed you all.

Some things I love.

Happy Thursday!

I am currently sitting on my porch and my weather app is telling me it is 88 degrees in Columbus.
Not too shabby.

I have not done a post about the things I love lately, so here I go.

sitting out on the porch & blogging.
I'm sorry but it doesn't get any better.

drinking one large iced tea out of my new tervis tumbler that has a nice bright pink "K."

my new iphone case.
two words: bad ass.

Yes, I know those are only three things and I'm in all of the pictures.
Don't care :)

Enjoy this day.
